La Majada de La Pedriza is inaugurated: Center for the Disclosure and Promotion of the Sierra de Guadarrama National Park

Last Thursday, November 19, its official inauguration was carried out by Carolina Sala (general director of Ednya and the La Majada de La Pedriza Center) , the mayor of Manzanares the Real Óscar Cerezal and the architect responsible for the intervention in the houses that make up this center: Mariano Cuevas.

Accompanied by a very large attendance, were representatives of the Ministry of the Environment of the Community of Madrid, representatives of city councils in the area of ​​influence of the Sierra de Guadarrama National Park, directors of educational centers, companies and local entities and mountaineers such as Miguel Ángel Gavilán or guadarramistas like Julio Vías . 

La Majada de la Pedriza owes its name to the objective pursued by this center located in the heart of the Sierra de Guadarrama National Park: A majada is a place in the mountains that serves as a retreat for the shepherd and his cattle at night, during the times of grazing and transhumance.

With the same vocation, La Majada de la Pedriza aims to welcome people, entities and municipalities in order to enhance, promote and promote sustainable economic activities in the Sierra de Guadarrama National Park and its socioeconomic environment.

It is a fruitful place, where to create synergies, stimulate collaborations, enhance personal and professional development, and generate teaching-learning processes around this protected natural area with national and international scope.

La Majada de la Pedriza will carry out training programs in collaboration with universities around the world, research, outreach on environmental protection, leisure for families, programs for schoolchildren, development of mountain sports activities ... It will also contribute to socioeconomic development in collaboration with local producers from both the Segovian side and the Madrid side with the sale and tasting of products in the Center itself, such as: Miraflores cheeses, organically produced Segovian sausages, honey from Soto del Real ...
